Bob the Builder

This made me laugh so hard:

A couple of days ago, my little boy and I were playing with his toys. My toy, a Tuscan Raider from Star Wars, was driving a school bus. Here's the conversation:

Dar: Your bus breaks down outside a haunted forest.
Me: Okay, my bus driver guy is very scared.
Dar: Suddenly, a skeleton (and he brandishes the rubber skeleton at me) jumps out of the bushes at you.
Me: My bus driver guy screams and runs away.
Dar: No, no, it's okay. The skeleton is nice...he's a good guy...and he fixes the bus for you.
Me: He fixes the bus?
Dar: Yes, because it's the skeleton of Bob the Builder.

This leads me to two conclusions:
1. We are raising a very creative and slightly creepy child.
2. Jake and I should probably spring for a Bob the Builder figure, but I think I like the skeleton better. *laugh*

I had a friend who's son was obesessed with Pokemon, and he wanted all of the action figures more than life itself. So they got him what they could, but her husband was a student and worked in a lab for pennies, and she was a stay-at-home mum, and they didn't have much. So together, she and her husband stayed up at night and drew him paper versions of the action figures. He loved those paper dolls more than anything, I think. When they tore, he taped them up, or he made his own versions.

Kids are beyond imaginative, and will make due with what is.

Your story is awesome.

I think you have a new toy to market, have you thought about patenting it?

Aren't kids great? They have the coolest way of seeing the world.

My Rock Star Love Interest is Single Again...

Breaking news, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi and Heather Locklear are getting divorced. Sad for sure, but I had planned to marry him at one time so does this mean I have a second chance? Oh wait, I'm married now. I guess it wasn't meant to be, just 2 ships passing in the night...sigh.

The Most Amazing Movie...

I just wanted to share my thoughts about a movie I saw this weekend. I realize this movie is not for everyone and some may even find it offensive, so please keep in mind that this is my opinion only.

Brokeback Mountain is the most amazing, pure love story I have ever encountered. Better than The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Titanic, Romeo and Juliet. It is a beautiful movie, both with the scenery and the emotion. Lots of people sum it up by saying "it's the gay cowboy movie", but to say that is to do a great disservice to this movie and all the people that made it happen. It is about being true to yourself, living a lie, living in fear, and the power of love. I was so moved by this movie, I can't even describe it. It was slow in some parts and sometimes hard to understand the dialogue (which is why I want to see it again), but this was a story that needed to be told. It does not portray the main character, Ennis and Jack, as "girly men" which many shows and movies often portray gay men to be (see Will and Grace). They are tough, "manly" men, they marry, have kids, but they only really love each other.

It is quite simply the most amazing, beautiful, pure love story I have ever seen. I encourage anyone who is comfortable with the issues this movie addresses to see this movie.
