I Want to Be My Daughter

Ninja Baby and I, as posted earlier, are spending the day together in a flu-inspired haze. I've been lazing around, trying to sleep around the ringing telephone, ringing doorbell (I had no idea people came by our house at 2pm), and everything else going on.

My daughter, however, is blissfully unaware of any of this noise and is sound asleep. So far, she has managed to grab six hours of sleep today.

This is not the only reason I want to be the Ninja Baby, though. She is invariably good humoured and charming. Take her anywhere and she will smile at people and show off her sparkly shoes. She is adventurous - she'll get into everything. She'll try anything once - seriously - she will eat any food you offer her. She is totally and completely happy with herself. She is healthy. She is loving and offers kisses and hugs to everyone in the family. She is creative and fun and a bit of a little diva. She is totally and utterly self confident.

I think my new year's resolution will be to act more like my toddler. It seems like a lot of fun. :)

Why Does Everything Happen All at Once?

Hi All,

My week has just been....yeah....it's been a rollercoaster. In the last seven days, I've had a lot happen.

Last Thursday: D&D Night. Yes, I play that game. It's all good as we all survived the evening with our characters intact.

Last Friday: Took day off work. Huge holiday shopping extravaganza in Calgary. Then, mega huge fun and pizza (okay, and more of that game) with Bob, Mr.SuperHappyAura (Orange) - I had to resurrect that name, and let's just call the other guys Darth, because he'd like that, and Dr. Kung Fu, because he'd find that funny. We stayed overnight and got up insanely early for Saturday because...

Last Saturday: M and W got married! Hurrah! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Location was awesome, food was awesome, and the married couple are super-awesome. We would not have missed it. Thammuz (my hubby) was especially pleased with all the D&D jokes during the reception. It made him happy. Ninja Baby was also pleased because everyone complimented her on her ruby slippers. After the wedding, we headed back home cuz we really needed to catch some sleep.

Last Sunday: Discovered I left my keys in Calgary because I am smart like brick. Totally love Bob and Darth who drove the keys back to me just out of the goodness of their hearts. Also: Thammuz's Work Party. That was actually kind of fun. We sat with Frozen Eyes (Thammuz's sister) and Valric (her hubby to be) and chatted with everyone else at our table. Together, we won the trivia game. Woohoo! We kinda got booed though for having two managers on our team. Also, Thammuz won the draw for Deluxe Monopoly. As board game fiends, we were both pretty psyched about that.

Last Monday: Was just walking out the door to work when the phone rang with a family emergency. My dad had a heart attack and was airlifted to Calgary. Spent day in Calgary being completely stressed, but surgery went well and Dad was stable. Ended up driving home - kinda sick of being on the road at this point.

Last Tuesday: Went to work and waited for news on Dad. Spent much time on phone and e-mail fielding queries from friends and family and taking care of stuff for parents.

Yesterday: Learned Dad is doing well enough to be transferred back home. Hurrah! Little boy got to go skating for the first time. Hurrah! Thammuz got the flu and spent 80% of the day sleeping and feeling like crap.

Today: Did not wake up until late and found out that, joy, now I have the flu. Have spent most of morning just sleeping. Ninja Baby also has flu - first sign was crib full of baby puke. Poor Ninja Baby. Ninja Baby and I are spending the day together curled up in fetal position. So, away from work for the second time this week - not great for a new manager - and, I am not allowed to see my Dad now because I can't risk him getting sick. So, that sucks.

Bleah. I'm hoping the next few weeks are blissfully boring.
