Belly Dancing

Yeah, you read that right. I had my first ever dance class tonight.

And I have to wear leggings! Leggings! Articles of clothing that should stay in the 80s forever. Leggings are not kind. It has been two years since I gave birth, but I still have a little bit of baby belly. Possibly it would help if I did any kind of exercise...hence the dance class. Anyway, I am a little self-conscious about it. The leggings are pure evil.

Also, you know that woman? That friend of your mom's that's like, in her fifties, and really overweight, and tells slightly off-color jokes? Yeah. She's in my dance class and she dances better than I do. Oh, the humanity!

At least I didn't suck as bad at the end of class as I did at the start of it. So, onward to next week!

*shakes the hips, does a little twirl, bangs her knee, and falls over*

Wishing I was a Stay-at-Home Mom...

So, obviously, I need to get back to work soon. Had today off to look after PirateBoy who has more than his fair share of ear infections, the poor kid. He'll be back in school tomorrow, but for today, he had another hospital trip and more penicillin. I've been doing the work at home dichotomy today since I really couldn't afford to take a day off work this week.

It's nice, actually. Maybe I should work a little harder at getting my writing done so that I could just write while the kids are at school and do laundry and cook nifty things on the stove in between computer sessions...um, because that's likely to pay the bills. *sigh* And don't get me wrong, I love being a librarian. Just with a chicken in the oven and me typing from home today, it's making me a little wistful.

Must go - Ninjababy is doing some kind of dance in the kitchen where she is pointing at the stove and shouting "hot!" I think it's the "cook supper faster" dance...

(Oh - and I feel a little guilty, but I'm still kind of waiting for snow...and pumpkin pie too!)
