Job News...
I have a job! I've known for a while now, but didn't want to announce anything since it wasn't formalized and I really didn't want to jinx it. I am the new 'Public Services Librarian' for our local public library. I start in December and I'll be working 2-3 days/week, moving to full time next September. The part-time start will give me a chance to acclimatize to the position slowly and Jake will be able to take care of the baby while I'm working. She's a little too young yet for us to leave her with a sitter.
I'm pretty relieved. I was happy to move here, but I was a bit concerned that I'd end up working solely in web design or records management. I'm so grateful and thrilled that our local library suddenly needed a librarian and I can actually put my degree to wonderful use! Hurrah! Sometimes fate works in really nice ways. :)
PS - My website went online today! I redesigned the library site over the summer and the design has finally been approved and uploaded. To find it just search google with "insert home town name here" public library. Wahoo!

T-Rexes
So, our four-year-old has this thing where he needs to dictate the contents of his bedtime songs. Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to find a song about robots attacking pirates at the spur of the moment. Once in a while, though, we manage to think of something. For example, changing 'Sing a Song of Sixpence':
Sing a song of sixpence
a pocket full of rye
four and twenty T-Rex!
T-Rex baked in a pie!
When the pie was opened
the T-Rex began to cry...
wasn't that a dainty dish
to set before the bad guy!
The bad guy was in his counting house, counting out his money.
His girlfriend was in the parlour eating bread and honey.
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes...
when along came a T-Rex who chomped off her nose!
Thankfully, it works for a lot of different themes and he is always happy when someone gets their nose chomped off in the end.

Lawn Furniture
I found a link to this site while puttering around MSN this afternoon. I'm tempted to try it in our front yard, but I'm not sure there's enough room. Maybe I can convince Mom and Dad to set it up in their backyard. I'm sure the dogs would enjoy it. Anyway, if any of you create your own "lawn furniture" let me know how it turns out. Yeah, I know, I like weird things...

I Get to Leave the House!
What a sad little life I lead. Anyway, Jake and I took a trial daytrip last week and it went okay, so now that he has been granted a short vacation, we're heading to Calgary for a visit. Hurrah! The main purpose is to take our new baby girl to visit her Great-Grandfather in Innisfail. So, we figured we'd try and visit as many friends and family as we can while we're kicking around. Not to mention getting in some relaxation time outside of these four walls. I'm hoping to see Michelle and my rezgirls (the 'Aunties') while I'm in the area. I'm also hoping to maybe get a haircut and some clothes that fit because the maternity clothes must die. I've already dropped around 30lbs, but I'm afraid that my pre-baby blue jeans are a lost cause for a while. Bleah. Ah well...any excuse to go shopping...
